“Being in Touch” is an ongoing set of experiments and workshops conducted and led by Ari Elefterin that explore methods of addressing skin hunger (the desire for healthy skin-to-skin contact) in our increasingly isolating world.
In this iteration “The Absurdity of Having a Body” Ari Elefterin along with their sibling Zoe (of The Sisters Elefterin) investigate how to use humor and play to explore new techniques for understanding what it means to be human in modern times.

Workshop — August 2023
In its workshop form, participants will engage in guided reflection and experimentation to unpack their own touch-based embodied knowledge and will have the opportunity to create playful methods of understanding their own definitions and capacity for touch.

Participatory Party Performance for “Being in Touch: The Absurdity of Having a Body”
— August 2023
A social/performance event where participants were offered a selection of “The Absurdity of Having a Body” experiments to consider and try. A series of descriptions and prompts were offered and through discussion with Ari, a choice was made. They were able to film solo, with a friend, or alongside Ari. A compilation video similar to those in the main project was then created.
