The Language of Touch is an ongoing research project exploring the relationship between language and our perceptions of touch. Based on somatic psychological research, these exercises specifically focus on the innate human behavior of the body subconsciously organizing itself to adapt to specific situations and stimuli. Further, it explores the dichotomic connotative undercurrents within how we approach touch and relaxation. If our body inherently organizes itself on the defensive when put into a dangerous situation, how can our body truly calmly react when prompted to take a “break” when “break” is inherently a violent word?
